Predestination

Predestination is another one of the main beliefs systems within Calvinism. This belief identified that there are individuals who are amongst the elect who have been chosen by God as one of the saved. This can cause what Weber identified as ‘salvation panic’ as individuals will try their hardest to become one of the saved but will always be plagued with doubt that they have not done enough to be saved. (See Protestant Ethic for more details regarding Weber’s book).
