Globalisation refers to the increasing interconnectedness of different societies throughout the world. Religion has been influenced by globalisation as now societies have become increasingly more fragmented with alternative religions being presented to individuals. Over time this has resulted in the growth of new typologies for religions emerging as traditional categories did not full describe or match new religious movements.
