Ethnocentric

Ethnocentric means viewing society (and particularly other cultures) from the perspective of one's own culture. The education system has been accused of ethnocentrism in that teaching materials, assessments and other aspects of educational life often seem to be produced with the assumption that all pupils are white British, largely secular or Christian, and have English as their first language. Some would argue that this is an outdated view of the education system and that modern schools and examinations are diverse, sensitive to cultural differences and multicultural.
