Two different takes on a similar concern within teaching: how to retain teachers.

The first is an article from The Guardian about how a 5th of teachers plan to leave the profession according to the National Education Union. One explanation for this is due to the excessive workload.

The second is a video from Vice about how to recruit teachers in rural America. With many qualified teachers heading to larger cities, this has resulted in rural (and often poorer areas) struggling to recruit.

The article and video could be used for the Education unit, and Work, Poverty and Welfare.

Sarah is a passionate full-time Head of Sociology and Psychology and has worked in a variety in schools in the UK, and she is currently working in a British international school. She is keen to develop and boost the profile of both subjects.
