The following article from The Guardian explores a proposal by Youth Music, a charity that aims to promote music education in schools.

Youth Music argue that school music lessons need to be reviewed and should include more contemporary genres, including grime, electronic and hip-hop.

Their research in conjunction with Birmingham City University found that students who were exposed to a new programme of music had higher levels of attendance in schools and were at less risk of exclusion.
