Black History Month

Sarah Best

8th November 2018

Black History Month is celebrated every October in the UK.

Whilst many schools celebrate this across the country, the following article highlights some of the lesser known black historical figures that played a significant part in Britain in the last 100 years. For example, Una Marson was the first black woman to be employed by the BBC in the early 1940s as a programme assistant.

The following article could be used within the Education unit as well as Culture and Identity.
