24th February 2017
Below you will find a question and response from AQA in relation to: Standard Deviation.
Question
Will students ever be required to calculate standard deviation?
Response
Thank you for your email. Students will only need to calculate the mean, median, mode, range, percentages and in relation to inferential testing, the sign test for the new AQA A level and AS level psychology specification. They will not have to calculate standard deviation in the AS or A level exam but should understand what it is for.
There are no restrictions on which scientific calculator is used as long as it is permitted in accordance with the Joint Council for Qualifications' exam regulations. These can be found on this document.
