Why are there so many swing states in the 2020 US presidential election?

In this CNN video, there is a detailed consideration of why, so close to the elections, there are still up-to-15 swing states.
This means there is still a wide range of possible outcomes to the electoral college vote from decisive victories to close shaves for both candidates. The changing nature of support for both parties (particularly Trump) and changing demographics in states have all contributed to this.
