Voting behaviour and age
25th February 2022
Good article as a starter for voting behaviour by Paul Waugh in the indy
Waugh argues that a raft of policy changes affecting pensioners is likely to cost them votes:
"Brexit undoubtedly drove a lot of the over-60s towards the Tories, yet the party is in danger of losing them again if it fails to listen to their worries about an income squeeze. The PM may be fearing the Gray report most right now, but it’s the grey vote he ought to fear just as much. As Gordon Brown discovered, the “pensioner pinch” is an issue few parties can ever avoid."
