Cold War (Spain)

The Cold War was a period of tension and hostility between the Soviet Union and it's allies and the Western powers between 1945-1990. For Spain, the Cold War represented something of a diplomatic opportunity as the USA were keen to establish Franco as an ally against the spread of communism across Europe. This was displayed in 1953 with the signing of the Treaty of Madrid.
