Catalan Statute (1932)

Constitutional reform passed in 1932 that granted the region of Catalonia greater autonomy. The reform was passed after a referendum held in August 1931 showed that devolving further powers to Catalonia had the support of 99% of the Catalonian people. Leading right-wing politicians opposed the reform, sighting it as a threat to the unity of Spain.
