Poundland's merger with 99p Stores - its biggest rival - increasing concentration in this discount sector of the market, has been approved - hurrah! The Competition and Markets Authority feels that the merger will have little impact on choice or quality of service - such as it is - because other rivals and supermarkets will ensure that there's still a reasonable level of competition.
