Ricardo Hausmann is the founder and Director of Harvard’s Growth Lab and this one hour lecture recorded at the Sante Fe Institute in June 2022 is truly superb. I showed it to my Year 13 economists as a segway between our previous studies of trade, comparative advantage and growth before moving onto the main Development Economics block. The talk opens so many windows onto why some countries remain poor whilst others make significant progress toward lifting per capita incomes and reducing extreme poverty.
