ERC's 'Clash of the Titans' - a superb competition for Economics Students
22nd November 2018
If you're looking for a competition to get your students thinking about applying their economic knowledge to the real world then you should give the Economic Research Council's 'Clash of the Titans' very serious consideration!
The concept is simple. The ERC ask a number of very esteemed economists or 'Titans' to predict the UK's economic performance over the next year. At the same time, anyone who would like to enter the competition (including students and teachers) send across their own predictions. All competitors predict figures for GDP growth, inflation, unemployment, earnings growth and interest rates. Whoever has the closest forecast to the real outcome will be declared the winner.
And what a year to take on the Titans! Does anyone really know how the UK's economy will cope with Brexit?
More details on the Titans and the how to enter the competition are available from here.
If you are interested in taking a group of students to the competition's launch event in London then specially discounted tickets are available here.
Good luck
