Development: The Fight against Plastic Pollution
6th December 2020
If you want to see the extent of plastic, and subsequently marine pollution in the Pacific, then this clips for you.
It looks at the problem from an Indonesian perspective, and, frankly, some of the clips are shocking.
And in Cambodia, they've started to use drones to monitor plastic pollution of the nation's waterways to try and identify the sources of pollution and tackle them directly.
Of course, one of the biggest problems here is that in polluting a river or a canal, people will be aware of the fact that the thing they are polluting doesn't have clearly-defined property rights, and this will incentivise them to pollute it.
