In this resource on Tony’s Chocolonely, students explore social enterprise, ethical sourcing, stakeholder impacts, higher cocoa prices, charitable donations and the trade-off between social aims and profit objectives.

Students examine how Tony’s Chocolonely operates as a social enterprise seeking to reduce exploitation in the cocoa industry. They identify evidence of its ethical purpose, analyse how different stakeholder groups are affected, and explain one benefit and one drawback of paying farmers above the market price. They also calculate a donation equal to 1% of net revenue. The worksheet develops understanding of social objectives, stakeholders, ethics, costs, pricing, profit and corporate responsibility in business practice.
