Teaching Activity: Sources of Finance Snake
Last updated 17 May 2021
This is an excellent activity that consolidates sources of finance.
Here are two ways of using this resource but you will be able to come up with other alternatives.
The Sources of Finance Snake
This is an excellent plenary activity on sources of finance and involves the whole class. At the end of the lesson (or even at the start of a lesson after sources of finance) give each student a card.
The student reads out the top of their card which is a source of finance. Then, another student has to check the bottom of their card to see if it relates to the source of finance. Then, the student reads out the source of finance at the top of their card and so on and so forth as the activity ‘snakes’ around the class.
A good way to develop understanding is to ask questions on the source of finance once a match has been made and before the next source of finance is read out. This ensures everyone is still involved in the activity even when they have read out their cards.
The Sources of Finance Wall
An alternative learning strategy is split the class into pairs and give each set of students a set of cards. Then, they cut out the cards and have to place them on top of each other to form a ‘wall’.
