Teaching Activity: Kaizen Toast (Quality & Lean Production)

Kaizen Toast is an enaging way to introduce students to kaizen by making some toast!

The teacher wastes lots of time and effort by moving long distances to find equipment etc. while the students watch and complete their sheet.

They can then get together with another student to fill in the suggestion sheet at the bottom of the page.

After the exercise the application of Kaizen to companies like car manufacturers can be discussed.

The effect on motivation or organisation of kaizen groups might be useful follow up points. Point out that kaizen can be used for both quality and efficiency gains.
