Teaching Activity: Dicey Exchange Rates
Last updated 17 May 2021
This resource is an activity that can be used to enhance the teaching and learning of exchange rates.
The activities help students to understand the concept of exchange rates and their impact on competitiveness.
Dicey Exchange Rates is best carried out in pairs after students have been introduced to the concept of exchange rates and the effect that changes in the exchange rate has on imports and exports.
Students are presented with three different business scenarios. Each scenario consists of a business who manufacturers in the UK and exports their products to another country. One of the scenarios includes a business who also imports some of their raw materials that are used in the production process. Each business is susceptible to changes in exchange rates and each scenario has a ‘current’ exchange rate.
