In this activity, students use a Gymshark case study to explore digital marketing performance through revenue, profit and return on marketing spend calculations, alongside AI-driven targeting, click-through rates and online conversion rates.

Students use an illustrative Gymshark digital advertising campaign to calculate revenue, campaign profit and return on marketing spend. They apply formulae using sales volume, selling price, total campaign costs and advertising expenditure, then interpret what the return means for each pound spent. The final task asks students to explain how AI-based personalisation, using products customers previously viewed, could make adverts more relevant, improve click-through or conversion rates, reduce wasted advertising and increase revenue and profit.
