UK Manufacturing and BREXIT

25th May 2015
The general election is over and the British electorate now need to prepare to cast their votes in a simple IN/OUT referendum on the UK's continued membership of the European Union. If 50%+ vote OUT then BREXIT (British exit from the EU) becomes a reality.
Should UK manufacturers be worried about the prospect of Brexit? How might the uncertainty surrounding the referendum decision impact on manufacturing output and investment as the political debate rages?
It's a hugely relevant issue for BUSS4 students in particular, since the EU is one of just three topics not yet examined in Section B (with just two papers left) and Brexit is often considered to be a significant threat to the competitiveness and future of UK manufacturing (Section A in 2015).
