Sustainable business - Coca-Cola company trials first paper bottle
15th February 2021
Coca-Cola are looking to move towards fully recyclable packaging, trialling a paper bottle, albeit with a plastic lining and cap, for now.
That said, industry insiders don't expect their widespread adoption just yet - the sector is too heavily-wedded to plastic bottles, the majority of which are recycled in the developed world, and the new bottles aren't yet scaleable, and so add to production costs.
As a result, it is expected that the first use of these bottles will be in high value added markets, and enhancing Coca-Cola's environmental and ethical credentials too.
