Introducing students to Productivity | tutor2u Business

Tom White posted a link to a BBC video about the Productivity Puzzle last week, and here is another.

As an introductory piece to today's Budget, Steph McGovern looks at why it is so hard to drive forward productivity in an economy which is so dependent on the service sector. There is some useful, very straight-forward application here, and both clips might well be worth filing away for introducing new students to the concepts of economic growth, in BUSS4 next term.

That looks at how it works on a macro level. If you want to look at raising productivity in practice, either for managing operations in BUSS3 or for Resource Management in Theme 2, have a look at how Pizza Express gains by changing who chops the lemons.
