The Psychology of Burnout, Illness and Injury among Elite Junior Athletes

After just writing a post on Silver Medalists in the Olympics, I stumbled across an article in ‘The Sport Journal’ which examines the factors that lead to burnout, illness and injury in elite junior athletes.
The researchers examined a range of variables, including passion, perceived performance, emotions and working relationships/alliances in 356 Norwegian athletes, across a range of sports. The psychologists noted a relationship between passion, perceived performance, positive and negative emotions with athlete burnout.
