Three-Parent Families
22nd January 2018
The Netherlands could become the first country to allow three-parent families (and up to four) to be legally recognised as raising children.
This could have significant implications for family life in terms of family structure (a move away from nuclear units). It could provide a good introduction for students looking at the various sociological theories of families. Students could consider the various viewpoints from the likes of the New Right, functionalists, feminists and interactionists for example.
