The following video produced by The Economist highlights the issue of extreme poverty.

Extreme poverty is argued to have fallen over the past few decades and this is partly due to the economic rise (and rise) of countries like India and China. However, how realistic is it when the world's population is ever increasing that poverty could ever be completely eradicated?

This video could act as an introduction to sociology and also for the Global Development topic with links to absolute poverty and relative deprivation.
