Coronavirus confirmed as pandemic by WHO

On 11th March, the World Health Organisation (WHO) declared that the coronavirus outbreak a pandemic.

To be declared a pandemic, a disease needs to spread across multiple countries at the same time. The WHO has called on governments to take "urgent and aggressive action." There have been over 145,000 confirmed cases worldwide with nearly 5500 deaths (data taken March, 14th from John Hopkins University).

This article could be used for the Health unit (role of medicine, health professionals and the globalised health industry, access to medical provisions).
