There’s No Thyme to Waste: Top 10 Spices for a Healthy Brain

Joseph Sparks

7th March 2017

What spices are good for your brain?

Fortunately, Dr. Amen has put together a list of the top 10 spices that can improve overall brain health and help to prevent cognitive decline.

Obviously, there’s no thyme to waste (sorry, I couldn’t help myself), so here are the top 10:

  • Turmeric
  • Saffron
  • Sage
  • Cinnamon
  • Basil
  • Thyme
  • Oregano
  • Garlic
  • Ginger
  • Rosemary

Puns aside, thyme is responsible for increasing DHA which is a fatty acid in the brain. DHA plays a role in brain health and is particularly important for pregnant mothers to ensure healthy brain development in their children.
