Simon Heffer in the Telegraph in his article ‘Can anyone explain what the Conservative Party stands for? ‘is not impressed with Cameron’s centralisation of the Conservative party—in the absence of traditional, right-wing policies, they lack clarity and direction, and haemorrhaging support to fringe parties. He laments: ”The problem for the Tories is this, succinctly put to me by a close observer of the party the other day: if you boarded a bus anywhere in these islands, sat down next to a passenger at random and asked what it stood for, he or she could not tell you.”
