Strange Situation Classification (Ainsworth)

Ainsworth’s Strange Situation (1970) used structured observational research to assess & measure the quality of attachment. The research measured the actions and responses of infants when they were placed in a range of situations involving the caregiver and a stranger. From this, Ainsworth identified a number of attachment types and characteristics.
