The Shift: Ethical Decisions in Healthcare is an interactive simulation designed for T Level Health students, placing them in the demanding role of a Healthcare Support Worker (HCSW) in the NHS.

Over eight realistic scenarios, students confront complex ethical dilemmas encompassing safeguarding, end-of-life care, and resource allocation.

As students progress through the simulation, their choices are immediately assessed against five key performance metrics: Patient Wellbeing, Team Collaboration, Ethical Practice, Resource Management, and Legal Compliance. The simulation integrates advice from a multidisciplinary team (MDT) and provides detailed feedback that directly maps decisions to the Core Component A learning outcomes, professional codes, and key UK legislation like the Care Act 2014, making it an essential tool for applying theory to practice.
