German government sued over toxic air pollution

A group of German residents are suing their government over "dangerously" high air pollution levels.

They claim that the government is failing in its duty to protect their health by not doing enough to reduce air pollution. In Germany, just like the UK, air pollution often far exceeds what the World Health Organisation sets as acceptable limits.

In the BBC report - German government sued over toxic air pollution - the human rights case for clean air is set out.
