On the 23rd April, the UK Government will test the Emergency Alerts service, by sending a test alert to every mobile phone in the UK.

In future, these will be used to warn you if there is a danger to life nearby.

For example you may get alerts about:

severe flooding
fires
extreme weather

However, the Emergency Alert system could also be used to warn you of a local health emergency, such as an industrial accident releasing toxic fumes.

Emergency Alerts

What does the alert look and sound like? 🚨

Emergency Alerts will appear on the home screen of your device and you will hear a loud siren-like sound and feel a vibration for up to 10 seconds.
