I love this live hurricane tracking world map http://www.arcgis.com/home/webmap/viewer.html?webm.... It makes a great starter at the beginning of the Hurricanes topic to show students what hurricanes are happening in the world at that very moment. You may even be able to watch the progress of a hurricane over the course of a series of lessons.
