As the new term rapidly approaches many of you will be wondering what to do with your new cohort of Year 12s in their first lesson - do you spend ages outlining the assessment demands and giving an overview of the NEA or do you just launch into one of the core units?

We have put together this fully resourced introduction lesson so you don't have to worry, including the following activities...

  • What makes this geographical? (prompt about drought and flooding in the UK)
  • What would an A-level geographer want to know? (collecting key questions from students)
  • Altered vowels and key concepts
  • Matching challenge for key concepts
  • Geography in the news - summer water crisis (you may wish to print slides 36-39 off for this)
  • Think like a geographer - applying concepts to the water crisis
  • Final thought - representation (using Blackpool as the example)
  • Exit ticket - questions based on the lesson
