Australia set to face new wildfire threat

Joanne Parkinson

6th January 2018

Heatwave conditions of up to 45 degrees Celsius are set to hit areas of New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia this weekend.

A bushfire is currently burning out of control in South Australia’s southeast area on Saturday and residents have been warned that their lives and properties are at risk.

An emergency warning has been issued for many areas including the Sherwood, Brimbago, Lowan Vale, McCallum and Senior areas near the South Australian-Victorian border.  Unfortunately however, in many areas, the chance of evacuation is low as the fires has spread too far and roads are dangerous to travel by.  Residents are advised to stay inside their homes and wait it out.  With the temperatures set to peak on Sunday, more fires are likely to start.
