Which countries match the GDP and population of America’s states?

Interesting graphic from the Economist and found here looking at each state´s GDP and comparing it to countries who have similar sized GDP.

I was surprised to discover that New York State has higher GDP than Australia! In addition, “it has long been true that California on its own would rank as one of the biggest economies of the world. These days, it would rank eighth, falling between Italy and Brazil”
