Tidal Power - Costs Ebb and Reliability Flows

Are we at the point where tidal power is on the point of being commercially viable?
Certainly, this article from the Guardian seems to make that case, with the price of tidal power falling, such that it is on track to be cheaper than the electricity generated at Hinkley Point C.
However, there are various caveats attached - but, in general, compared to the pessimism of a couple of years ago, the sector seems to be more optimistic. Technology has had a lot of implementation failures but perhaps the tide is turning?
Levels of support for wave and tidal renewable energy developments in the United Kingdom have slightly increased during this period, rising from 74 percent in 2012 to 75 percent in 2021.
