Russia to build a nuclear power plant in Nigeria
2nd November 2017
We normally view China as the major investor in African infrastructure, but in this case it's the Russians who are investing in nuclear power in Nigeria.
The Russian state-owned company Rosatom will build one nuclear power plant in the south and another in the centre of the country according to sources at the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission.
This might help resolve Nigeria's energy crisis - we shall see. However, I'm prepared to speculate that a number of agents - both in Russia and Nigeria - will do rather well out of this proposed investment.
