Price discrimination on airline seating
7th March 2016
We're now used to paying different prices for air tickets depending on when we choose to book, but a patent has been filed in the US for a new "bench seat" that can accommodate different numbers of people depending on their size (girth in particular!). Larger passengers would have to pay more for their ticket as they would take up more room on the "bench seat", whereas skinny families with a couple of kids may save money if they can all squeeze onto one bench seat.
