OFWAT puts pressure on the water monopolies

Competition policy has often been criticised for allowing privatised utilities an easy ride. Not in this case, where OFWAT have sent seven out of ten water companies back to the drawing board to demonstrate how they are going to cut bills, protect vulnerable customers and reduce leaks.
As the head of OFWAT says, this is all about ensuring that "customers across the country get better and more efficient services."
