Martin Weale joins the MPC

I am thrilled to learn that Martin Weale from the NIESR has been appointed as an external member of the Monetary Policy Committee (replacing Kate Barker). This is a wonderful appointment as there are few people better qualified than Martin in understanding what is driving the economy during these turbulent times. Martin was my Director of Studies at Clare College Cambridge and it was largely his teaching that prompted me to go into teaching as I came to the end of my Cambridge degree.
