Market Failure - Child Obesity
26th September 2012
There is a wealth of resources to tap into when teaching the topic of market failure at AS. Here is a brilliant and current article from the BBC asking questions such as 'why do parents let their kids get fat'. This article discusses the problem not just of child obesity but also of adult weight problems and mentions some of the potential solutions. It also contains a useful radio clip of a local counsillor who 'blames the parents' whereas others state that they themselves are responsible for their weight issues. Other useful information regarding BMI and calorie counts make this a cracking article for any AS or IB Economics lesson.
