Florida officials have undertaken what must be the most creative solution to fighting the unemployment problem. Firstly, create a cartoon character who is the nemesis of the unemployed - Dr Evil Unemployment.

The second step is to spend US$14,000 on 6000 superhero capes for the unemployed - as part of the “cape-a-bility” challenge. With these capes they can then gain the confidence to vanquish Dr Evil Unemployment from their lives!

Not surprisingly, the campaign has come in for heavy criticism and has now been terminated. The officials responsible admitted it was “outside the box thinking”.

But at the very least, we now have a cartoon character to help us teach unemployment!
