How many assets did the Bank of England purchase in its QE programme between 2009 and 2020?

Using the chart in this BBC article (https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-63474176) and scroll down to the bar chart called: Quantitative Easing in the UK, then answer the following questions:

  1. During which economic shock period did the Bank use the most QE? (NB: The data shown is ‘cumulative’.)
  2. Calculate the proportion of the total cumulative QE done for each economic shock.
