Chinese Economic Reform - An Overview

Geoff Riley

7th February 2016

These are pivotal times for the Chinese economy. Structural reforms of their institutions, labour and financial markets are high on the agenda of the Chinese government and many of them are seen as essential for the country to successfully transition to a more balanced and sustainable growth and development pathway.

I have listened in to a number of really interesting webinars and seminars on the Chinese economy recently and the notes below provide an overview of some of the key elements of the Chinese reform programme.

For an in-depth article I recommend China's Growth - A Brief History from Linda Yueh published in the December 2015 edition of the Harvard Business Review - Click here
