BBC Newsnight interview with Joseph Stiglitz - a Year 2 homework exercise
5th September 2016
Our Year 2 students are returning this week and, after a few weeks of (some) sun and relaxation, they are no doubt chomping at the bit to get ready for the challenges ahead this academic year.
The new A Level specifications have re-emphasised the importance of evaluation and the need for students to reference real Economists viewpoints. Nobel Prize winner Joseph Stiglitz is currently in Europe promoting his latest book and the clip below shows his interview on the BBC's Newsnight from last week (when they were still relaxing!). You may like to get your students 'back into the swing' of thinking about Economics by setting them the task of watching the video. The article starts with a general piece on the issues of globailisation as related to the recent story about the tax avoidance of Apple and then moves into a 10 minute interview with Stiglitz.
Click here for a set of questions for your students to consider when watching the clip. You may wish to lead a discussion based on these questions on their return. The Word document contains the link for the clip below.
