An appetising deficit?

We have been focusing on fiscal policy in A2 macroeconomics for the last couple of weeks, and one of my students came up with a lovely phrase, in which he described a number of factors which had

“...mixed together to create a huge deficit soup, and no one is hungry for it.”

Which gives rise to the following question:

Which ingredients have gone into the UK’s fiscal Deficit Soup, and what would you use to create a Recovery Risotto?
