What we'll cover

  • Here we introduce the different components of assessment, including the NEA. We will consider the A-Level assessment objectives (AOs) and how to plan your teaching of the course, in particular, how to support the development of students' geographical skills.

  • This session focuses on topics commonly taught in Year 12, looking at resources and strategies to use to support students - including how to address common misconceptions, with the 'step up' to A-Level.

  • The independent investigation is a key focus of the day - including best practice dos and don'ts, approaches to scheduling it within the course, and how to support students to get it right, right from the start.

  • In this last session we will work through assessment and standardisation activities for all exam question types, to help you apply what you have learnt about the AOs and develop your marking skills ahead of Year 12 exams and other exam-style assessments.
