Teaching Activity: Crispy Capacity (Capacity Utilisation)
Last updated 17 May 2021
Crispy Capacity is a simple teaching and learning strategy which can be used to introduce the key concept of capacity and capacity utilisation.
Hula Hoops (or a suitable equivalent) are used to explain and illustrate the concept of capacity and capacity utilisation. The activity also allows teachers to build in numerical content from the start therefore developing student’s quantitative skills.
The activity is best carried out in small groups of 3 students. No Hula Hoops should be left uneaten at the end!
